What Prehab Rehab's Clients say about us.....

Multi-class, Personal Training and other clients

Semi-retired teacher, 67, 18 months (although have worked with Frances for many years)
I needed to reassess my exercise routine having decided to give up whol;e gym membership.  Pilates was the main thing I missed.  (It has) helped me with past sciatic weakness as well as maintaining flexibility and positive focus on breathing, it also helps me with other health issues.

The classes are always tailored to the group eg individual injuries etc & seasonal (gardening).  The additional benefits of classes is the social well-being.  People are friendly, caring and supportive.

Frances is the most physiologically aware trainer/therapist that I have ever worked with giving you a sense of confidence as well as ensuring that your individual physical needs are met - a class of 12 people can, through Frances's knowledge, all have their individual needs met.

Frances has helped me through so many problems over the years – she finally stopped my diet yo-yoing which repeated joining and leaving of weight loss groups had me on.  I still have a weight issue, but it is still slowly coming off and I have been officially “overweight” rather than “obese” for a year now!

I had wanted to do Pilates and Tai Chi for a long time and was also recommended by my chiropractor for help with back problems.
It has helped with a lower back malformation and strengthening of body ability and flexibility (eg getting in/out of bath)  Posture too.

The classes are run sensitively and according to the clients there.  I have cut chiro sessions by half and notice a distinct difference in physical abilities/discomfort if missed.  Mindfulness included!

Highly recommended.  Great teacher, friendly class and fantastic results!  Mind as well as body!

My physio told me I needed to strengthen my muscles to help control my Hypermobility Syndrome (over-mobile joints).  He gave me some basic exercises and discharged me as I was going back to Uni outside his area.

I found Frances through a friend and although we only managed one session before I went back she explained what was wrong and helped me understand how to look after my joints and strengthen them.  It made so much sense that I found I could apply them and make a real difference to my pain levels.  I now “top-up” with Frances whenever I’m home from Uni.

University Lecturer, 58, 6 months
After having heart surgery my cardiac rehabilitation team referred me to Frances to continue and progress the exercise I had been doing with them.   We developed my capabilities with Frances adding different challenges and methodologies to each session.  It was only after about 2 months I realised that my long-standing shoulder ache (a cricket thing) had gone and my knees were less sore at the end of each day ……  she admitted she had been sneaking in exercises for my posture and core strength – something I had told her didn’t bother me - but she had recognised the need and included as part of my training.  Needless to say I was happy to continue with what she recommended!

Pilates

Retired Teacher, 61
I have a twist in my spine.  Since starting the Pilates class 18 months ago I manage to be pain-free most of the time, and need far fewer trips to chiro and far less intense treatment when I do go.  Thank you Frances!

Frances is extremely supportive and encouraging – but we also work hard, which feels productive.

(Her) helpful corrections and praise are much appreciated.
Frances has tremendous skill in tailoring the class to the abilities and physical condition of those present on the day while respecting shared details in confidence.
I really appreciate the way she regularly suggests ways of making a particular exercise easier or harder and leaving the choice up to us.

My flexibility was becoming so bad it was affecting my life.  Frances runs the course very well.  My wife had a one-off session following poor recovery from a hip replacement. Frances gave her simple but effective exercises which have helped a great deal.

I came to the class because of back problems.  The exercises ease the problem and I have less pain daily.

Female 61, attending 3 months
(the classes) are friendly and welcoming, timing is perfect but most of all I like the pace and clarity of the exercises.
I love the fact that she explains what the exercise is achieving, how we should feel and how we can push ourselves to the next level.

I never look at the clock and the hour flies by.

I feel so much better for this.

I was referred to Frances following my second pregnancy which left me with a lovely son and horrible abs – the split in my muscles was over 10cm and I’m a size eight!  The back and pelvis pain was horrible.  After only four sessions (and homework) the gap was halved and the pain nearly gone and I was able to join mainstream classes and I was soon pain free with abs completely back where they should be. Miracles can happen!

Pilates helps by balance, posture and energy.  The classes are quietly intense, effective and enjoyable – but no cheating is allowed!

Wanted to do some exercise that would not hinder (or be hindered by) my fused ankles.
My core strength is as good now as it has ever been during my lifetime, including when I rode competitively.
I believe that everyone should do Pilates – I swear by it!

Pilates has helped me with general fitness, balance, muscle control and being supple.  The class is friendly, good-humoured, small, inclusive and no-one is ever made to feel isolated or inferior. The movements are explained fully and we are always reminded that we are all individuals and just anatomically different people capable of different things.

Tai Chi

I needed to strengthen my knee after tearing a cartilage. The class helped me in regaining fitness and confidence in walking properly.

The classes are friendly and relaxed, but I am always aware that Frances’s eagle eyes are watching everyone and making sure that the exercises are done correctly and that no-one is doing anything beyond their capabilities which could cause strain/injury.

I had done a little Tai Chi previously and really enjoyed it, so pleased when classes began locally.  The class helps me with my creaky knees.  Great teacher.  In view of the “elderly” class she is so patient with us and it can all be done within each person’s capabilities.  Really enjoyable and beneficial.

I came to the class because I needed to be more active.  It has helped me with the Osteo-arthritis in my knees.  The class has a relaxed atmosphere and I’m able to manage at my own level without criticism.

Female 71, attending 3 months
The class has helped my strength and balance, particularly on one leg affected by polio.  The class is pleasant company, small numbers, exactly the kind of exercise I can manage.  Frances is a very pleasant and encouraging teacher.  She is aware of individual needs and is watchful and helpful.

I play a lot of golf and have had a lower back problem for some time.  Since coming to Pilates and Tai Chi it has improved enormously.  My balance has also improved beyond recognition.
When I go to Tai Chi I feel I have been transported somewhere else as it is so therapeutic and relaxing.  I would recommend either class to anyone, whatever their age.

Nordic Walking

Nurse, 38, attending 2 years
I had a fairly standard “nurse’s back” after 15 years on the wards but wanted to do something that got me out of doors – running has never been an option for me and cycling was painful to lean over the handlebars so Frances suggested Nordic Walking.  A few sessions of Pilates helped stabilise my back and raised my awareness of my warning signs.  The technique of Nordic Walking was easily mastered and now my husband and I both carry poles in the car so we can enjoy parks, moors and clifftops without our backs or knees (his problem) limiting our enjoyment.

Female, 52, attending 15 months
I couldn’t believe I got the technique right in only one session – Nordic Walking has been such a help in my weight loss, and I feel so much fitter and healthier than if I only counted calories.

When my GP warned me my kidney stones were symptomatic of my lifestyle and weight  I was offered an Exercise Referral to my local leisure centre – a place of torture as far as I was concerned.  A friend who had seen Frances for Cardiac Rehabilitation recommended her and we discussed what I was prepared to try and looked at my diet.
The result so far is three stones(weight)  gone, 14 inches off my waist and no more kidney stones.  All this done through changing my diet and Nordic Walking.  I now find drills and challenges from the internet but would never have picked up my poles without Frances to get me through those early months and I still “check-in” with her from time to time to make sure I haven’t picked up any bad habits.

Activity for Health

Female, 61 attending 6 months
I wanted to get into a regular exercise routine to complement other things I do.  It helps me keep supple and exercises muscles that don’t always get used in other activities.

The class is challenging to your own level with a friendly group and individual instruction as group numbers are kept low.

(The classes have helped me with) general aches and pains as well as my COPD and my mobility has improved as well.

The “feel good” factor is worth so much.
